Danish Rye with a maple syrup finish
In the Stauning R.Y.E. Maple Syrup Cask, spicy rye meets the sweet aromas of a special secondary maturation. Matured in virgin American oak, it is followed by a finish in first-fill Vermont maple syrup casks. The limited Studio Edition is restricted to 2,500 bottles worldwide and is bottled at 53.5% ABV.
Production in Skjern
Stauning uses rye and barley sourced from the immediate surroundings of the Danish distillery. Their grain-to-glass philosophy includes malting the grain on-site using floor-malting. The distillation process utilizes small, direct-fired copper pot stills.
Aromas and taste
- Nose: Distinct maple syrup, accompanied by warm spice notes and fine oak.
- Palate: Creamy and full-bodied, with dark caramel and pronounced rye spice.
- Finish: Long and gently fading with subtle wood notes.
This non-peated whisky is bottled without artificial coloring and without chill filtration. To fully appreciate its cask and grain aromas, we recommend enjoying it neat.
