Santa Teresa 1796 is a Venezuelan single-estate rum from the Hacienda Santa Teresa in the Aragua Valley. The number 1796 refers to the founding year of the hacienda and is not an age statement. For the blend, light, heavy, and pot-stilled rums are brought together. The components used are aged separately at first, then in a four-stage Solera system, and finally in large oak vats. The bottling does not carry a fixed age statement.
The rum displays a fruity nose with distinct woody notes. On the palate, nuts, leather, vanilla, cinnamon, dark chocolate, and plums combine with hints of honey and pepper. Its style is dry, smooth, and balanced; the finish remains present for a long time. Santa Teresa 1796 is bottled at 40% ABV.
