This Japanese single malt is an invitation to explore the deep symbiosis of traditional craftsmanship and bold innovation, already hinted at in its luminous golden yellow color. The Alchemy of Ale Yeast and Islay Peat The Saburomaru Distillery has been dedicated to the art of smoky whisky since 1952 in the heart of Toyama Prefecture. The Saburomaru distillery is at the center of this bottling.
Cask Maturation and Origin
With "V The Hierophant," the distillery presents a fascinating experiment: the combination of classic whisky yeast with specially cultivated, aged ale yeast. This method, paired with the use of heavily peated Islay malt, gives the spirit distilled in 2021 a complexity that goes far beyond the usual.
Aroma
A play of mineral smoke and autumnal sweetness The bouquet opens with a surprising freshness of apples and pears, underscored by floral accents and a delicate honey sweetness. On the palate, the full power of the heavily peated malt emerges: dense smoke marries with the warm notes of roasted chestnuts and the delicate sweetness of maple syrup.
