Tradition trifft auf schottisches Erbe Seit 1952 widmet sich die Saburomaru Distillery in der Präfektur Toyama der Kunst des rauchigen Whiskys und gilt damit als Pionier in diesem Segment. Die Besonderheit liegt in der Fermentation: Die Verwendung von hölzernen Gärbottichen unterstützt eine vielfältige Aromenentwicklung, die dem Whisky trotz seiner rauchigen Dominanz eine ausgewogene und fruchtige Komplexität verleiht. Die Brennerei Saburomaru steht dabei im Zentrum dieser Abfüllung.
Fassreifung und Herkunft
Für den „The Emperor“ wurde im Jahr 2020 Heavily Highland Peated Malz mit einem Phenolgehalt von 50 ppm verarbeitet, bevor das Destillat 2024 in Flaschen gefüllt wurde. Am Gaumen zeigt sich eine herzhafte Süße, die an geröstete Maronen erinnert, kontrastiert durch die milde Säure sonnengereifter Aprikosen.
