Michter's US 1 Toasted Barrel Finish Sour Mash is a special limited-release bottling from Kentucky. It is based on the well-known Michter's US 1 Sour Mash Whiskey, which receives an additional finish in a specially crafted, toasted barrel after its regular maturation.

For this second barrel, Michter's uses wood that has been air-dried for 18 months. The barrel is then toasted, but not charred. This gives the whiskey additional depth without losing its smooth sour mash character.

The aroma of Michter's Toasted Barrel Finish Sour Mash reveals sweet and spicy notes of toffee, vanilla, honey, and milk chocolate. These are complemented by orange peel, subtle hints of toast and campfire, as well as nuances of cherry and spices. At 43% ABV, it remains approachable, but the toasted barrel brings a significantly more aromatic and complex side.
