Old Rhosdhu refers to a historic spirit style from the Loch Lomond Distillery. This rare bottling was distilled in 1994 and bottled by Thompson Bros. in 2026 after 32 years of maturation. The single malt spent its last two years in a Madeira Quarter Cask. Only 155 bottles were filled at 49.4% ABV – in natural color and without chill filtration.
The complex aroma combines ripe rancio notes and wood oil with mineral-earthy impressions, berry compote, cranberry, and fruit leather. On the palate, the whisky is oily and savory: black mustard seed, crumbly apple, and lime meet star anise and fresh tarragon. The long, distinctive finish remains spicy, tart-fruity, and earthy.
