Liber The Great Sherry Xperience Chapter 4
The 6-part bottling series THE GREAT SHERRY CASK XPERIENCE is intended to enable connoisseurs and discoverers of sherry cask-matured whiskeys to experience the different flavor and character effects of post-maturation in different sherry cask types in a special way. The basis of the Sherry Cask Xperience is a New Make from the LIBER distillery near Granada, which, distilled in July 2016 according to the Scottish model, was initially allowed to mature for 4 years in two 700-liter, around 30-year-old Pedro Ximenéz sherry casks. The high quality of the PX Sherry casks and the special microclimate in Padul allowed the single malt to mature so far without the influence of the cask or the aromas of the PX being able to dominate too much.
The 6 different "Chapters" of the Sherry Cask Xperience are bottled at intervals of about 2 months - ie Chapter 1 was allowed to enjoy a 12-month finish, Chapter 4 has already spent a year and a half in the Quarter Cask, and Chapter 6 has almost 2 years between the start of post-aging and bottling. After the first bottling, there is no predefined order of the bottlings - the individual degree of post-maturation of the whiskey decides what is bottled and when.
