Laphroaig 35 Year Old Strong Characters Chapter 2
With Strong Characters Chapter 2, Laphroaig dedicates a limited edition to Dugald Johnston. He inherited the distillery in 1847. His story accompanies this whisky in illustrations by Bill Bragg and puts the people behind the distillery at the centre.
During its 35-year maturation, the whisky was aged in American oak barrels and hogsheads. Sweet pastry and fruit notes meet smoke and spice.
Tasting notes
- Nose: A sweet start is followed by impressions of freshly baked pastry. Apple and cherry complement the picture and evoke Bakewell tart or streusel cake.
- Palate: Smoke and spice make the first impression. On the palate, the whisky is creamy, accompanied by delicate raisin notes and an underlying warmth.
- Finish: Anise remains present for a long time. A peppery tingle accompanies the finale before the peat smoke gradually re-emerges.
