The Isle of Raasay Distillery is the first legal whiskey distillery on the Scottish island of the same name and celebrated the launch of its first standard bottling this summer. This is the windswept distillery's first special bottling outside of the UK.
Unlike the Scots standard, only peated malted barley was used for the Single Malt Kirsch 45th anniversary double cask. As the name suggests, the smoky distillates matured in two different individual casks - a first fill Chinkapin Oak Cask and a first fill Oloroso Sherry Cask. With aromatic smoke and intense dark fruit, the result solemnly combines two of perhaps the most beautiful flavor profiles.
