Es ist das subtile Zusammenspiel von erdigem Torfrauch und der tiefen, weinigen Süße eines Oloroso-Fasses, das diesen Islay Single Malt zu einer Entdeckung für anspruchsvolle Gaumen macht. Ein Dialog aus dunkler Frucht und aschigem Rauch In der Nase präsentiert sich zunächst ein eleganter Register aus Sherrynoten, geprägt von dunklen Früchten, gerösteten Nüssen und einem Hauch von karamelligem Fudge, der den typischen Torfcharakter der Brennerei sanft umhüllt. Die Brennerei Caol Ila steht dabei im Zentrum dieser Abfüllung.
Fassreifung und Herkunft
Handwerkskunst zwischen Port Askaig und St. Im Jahr 2010 destilliert, verbrachte er seine Reifezeit zunächst in einem Hogshead, bevor er durch ein Finish in einem Oloroso-Sherry-Fass veredelt wurde. Kuratiert wurde dieses Einzelfass von Felix Dear für das traditionsreiche Londoner Haus Berry Bros. & Rudd, um das 50.
Aromatik
Am Gaumen zeigt sich der Islay-Geist direkter und mit fester Überzeugung: Ein erdiger Rauch trifft auf die strukturgebende Tiefe trockener Tannine. Der Nachklang ist langanhaltend und aschig, wobei Nuancen von Walnussschalen und getrockneten Früchten einen bleibenden Eindruck hinterlassen.
