The Bunnahabhain 18 Year Old, bottled in 2010, is an elegant Islay single malt with an alcohol content of 43%. Unlike many whiskies from the island, it exhibits only a very subtle smokiness and impresses primarily with its soft, sherry-accented character. Notes of dried fruit, caramel, nuts, and a gentle sea breeze unfold on the nose. On the palate, it is full-bodied, complex, and balanced with hints of dark chocolate, spice, and oak. The long, smooth finish makes this 0.7-liter bottling a particularly enjoyable representative of the classic Islay style.
