Description
The Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old Cask Strength Edition 2026 showcases the distillery's predominantly unpeated Islay style in a particularly raw form. This limited small-batch bottling is released without dilution at a powerful 55.8% ABV. For this edition, equal parts first-fill Oloroso sherry casks and bourbon casks were married together. The Oloroso component provides dark fruit and soft spice notes, while the bourbon casks contribute a lighter sweetness with vanilla, honey, and toasted coconut.
On the nose, raisins, figs, and dates combine with honeyed vanilla, cinnamon, and cloves. A subtle maritime freshness recalls the distillery's coastal location. On the palate, stewed fruits and warming spices meet creamy vanilla and toasted coconut. The long, complex finish allows dried fruits and spices to slowly transition into dark sugar and finely polished oak tones.
As is customary for Bunnahabhain, this edition is also bottled with natural color and without chill filtration. The combination of sherry richness, bourbon sweetness, and salty coastal freshness makes the 2026 release a unique interpretation of the well-known twelve-year-old Bunnahabhain.
