Glasgow is more than just Scotland's largest city. After difficult times in the 1970s and 80s, the metropolis in the Lowlands is now alive with a vibrant gastro scene, legendary live music, art and architecture. Drive and innovation are among the very own characteristics of the "Glaswegians". Equipped in this way, three of them took on the challenge of bringing the production of single malt Scotch whiskey back to the city after more than 100 years. As The Glasgow Distillery Company, they have been branding a new whiskey chapter in Glasgow's history since 2014.
The distillery proves that it succeeds in doing so with its varied and award-winning core range as well as with complex single casks. Latest example: the Glasgow 1770 Limited Edition Release from the Moscatel Wine Cask. Unusual for the Lowlands, the Glasgow Distillery distils, among other things, single malt from peat malt. For the exclusive bottling, it spent its final maturation period in a barrel pre-loaded with Moscatel. The sweet wine is made from the sherry grape of the same name and develops a high sugar content. The result at a strong 60.1% vol. Cask Strength: sweet smoke, floral notes, tobacco, citrus and spices.
